God works wonders through praise. These sermon notes were taken while listening to Jonathan Shuttlesworth of Revival Today give his Sunday Sermon on Sunday, November 17th, 2024.
Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
Psalms 150:6 (KJV)
Nobody can do your praising for you. There is something that is released. Daniel praised the Lord, and an angel was sent immediately. God steps in when you praise.
Psalm 47:7 KJV For God is King of all the earth; sing ye praises with understanding.
When churches do not teach the Word, everything is just done out of religion. If you were to ask the average Catholic, for example, why are you kneeling or a Protestant why do you open with songs, no one is going to know. They just do it because thats what they have always done or thats how their Grandma did it.
If you don’t understand the interaction that takes place, you are missing out.
Lead with Thanksgiving
Matthew 14:15-21 KJV And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.
16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
18 He said, Bring them hither to me.
19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.
Until you thank God for what you have, you are not qualified to obtain more. Jesus gave thanks and blessed it and there were 12 baskets left over. As you thank God for what you have where you are at, it will grow.
Seven Key Points of Praise Warfare
- God works wonders through praise.
- Praise is the highest form of prayer.
- Praise is conscious of what Jesus did 2,000 years ago.
- Praise provokes divine intervention.
- Psalm 22:3 God inhabits the praise of His people.
- Luke 17:15 One leper came back and praised. One came back with a loud voice and fell on his face and gave glory to God. Thy faith has made thee whole. The one that came back was healed AND made whole. He was restored of everything the leprosy took. When you invoke praise, the enemy must cough up everything he took.
- The first thing to leave a church is praise.
- Heaven is a loud place.
- Praise cures “Keep Me In Prayer” Syndrome.
- Daniel 10:12-13, when you first began to pray, your answer was on its way. Sometimes things are fought in the natural and some in the supernatural.
- Mark 11:22-24, you can ask for anything. Have no doubt in your heart. God HAS answered your prayer when you pray. I will call it done when I pray, and I know it may need to be fought out in the spirit, but it is mine. Ask once and call it done. The Kingdom of God is founded on faith.
- My God answers prayer.
- Read Elijahs prayer in 1 Kings 18. Immediately fire came down from heaven when he prayed.
- Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing. With thanksgiving, let your requests be known. Then the peace of God comes upon you. Call it done. When you praise God at the end of your prayer, it marks it as finished. Christians are some of the biggest worriers. Have confidence that you have the victory. Faith calls it done.
- 1 Peter 5:7 cast all your cares on Him. I won’t think about it anymore. I will not worry about a thing that I cast upon God.
- Romans 4:20-21 Abraham was strong in faith. He did not stagger and gave praise before his wife was ever pregnant. Fully satisfied, fully assured. You need to build yourself up. Listen to people who preach faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. God has no limitations. He is the Almighty God. Pray until you feel the victory and then give praise ad thanks. Call it done.
- Praise Protects a Nation.
- Deuteronomy 28:47-48 if you won’t praise me with joy and gladness of heart, you can serve another master who is harsh.
- Romans 1:18-21 but God shows His anger from heaven. They know the truth about God. They would not worship Him or give Him thanks.
- You cannot outsource praising God. It is like me sending someone to tell my husband Happy Anniversary.
- Do not forget God.
- When it says that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God, it is because of their arrogance. They feel they do not need God.
- You go to church to show God that you are going to give Him the first few hours of a new week out of respect.
- Praise is a weapon that destroys barriers.
- Joshua 6:16-20 remember when no loud singing was allowed during the COVID lock downs? The devil hates praise. Praise carries supernatural power that can knock down walls. The Bible says shout, so shout. Don’t wait when it is over, shout ahead of time. The Lord will fight for you. God “has given” you the city. Your praise provokes divine intervention. And when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and they shouted with a great shout, what happened? The wall fell down flat. It was such a massive wall, 16 chariot teams could ride side by side. Even if they fell straight down, there would still be a hill to climb. God caused it to fall flat so that the city could be entered with ease.
- Praise destroys every chain of bondage.
- Acts 16:25-26 Paul and Silas praised the Lord from prison. Ask and you shall receive now. We know it was loud as the other prisoners were able to hear them.
- We settle a debt with the LORD when we praise. We are borrowing His breath every time we breath. Many catechisms have it as the number one thing that man was created for, was to praise God. We need to settle our debt. Why jump and dance for some DJ when you can do it for the King of kings and the Lord of lords? Let everything that is within me, praise the Lord. The earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof. And when Paul and Silas praised, suddenly the doors were opened, and all the shackles came loose.
- No prison can hold God, and every bit of bondage is falling off of you now in Jesus name.
- Praise destroys attack.
- 2 Chronicles 20:21-25 tells of how singers were appointed at the front of the battle because praise is a mighty weapon.
- If the devil cannot take your joy, he cannot take your strength. The moment they began to sing and praise (because you can sing and not praise) they obtained the victory and the plunder was so great, it took them three days to recover all.
- Praise produces increase.
- Joel 1:12 everything was withered due to joy being withered out of men.
- Psalms 67:1-6 states that we should ask that God may bless us. Verse 2 talks about your healing. Jesus said to go everywhere and teach the kingdom and heal the sick.
- Let the people praise you, oh God. Enough said. Everything dies when there is no joy. Everything flourishes when praise is made a priority.
You can sing without praising.
- Something that needs to be pointed out is not to pick just any song. There are songs that are anointed, and there are songs that will suck the life out of the room.
- Remember that life and death is in the power of the tongue, and repeating chorus’ that are filled with negativity and falsehoods will poison your mind.
- Not just anyone should lead a worship session. If they do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, it could be detrimental to ushering the Spirit into a worship service.
There is significance with dancing as well, but I think that will have to be for another time.
There is so much more to learn. There is no bottom with God.
