'Love Is' Valentine's Day Craft

This craft is great for your children or Sunday School class to learn of love.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant ⁵or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;^[b] ⁶it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. ⁷Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ESV

There was a time I taught Sunday School for a local church. Learning the Bible with the children and then solidifying it with a craft was always a highlight of our time together.

This was one of our favorite holiday themed crafts we did for Valentines Day that focused on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. First Corinthians 13 is referred to as the love chapter and for good reason.

Here is the final picture I found without the hearts having the writing on them.

Add patient, kind, not envious, not boastful, not arrogant, not rude, not selfish, not irritable or resentful to the other hearts.

I purchased sticky foam sheets to trace the hearts on.

2. Using a heart shaped stencil, we traced multiple hearts on different colored foam board then cut them out.

3. We took one of the hearts and removed the sticky side protection and laid it down sticky side up on the table. We ran three strands of nylon cord from the heart towards us and one away from us creating a loop to be used to hang the masterpiece.

Another heart with the sticky protection removed was laid on top of the other, securing the strings in place (and covering the sticky). I then wrote “Love is” and “1 Corinthians 13:4-7” on each one.

4. We then added the other hearts to the strands.

5. We filled the hearts in with what 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 states and *voila*!

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in Him. 1 John 4:16 ESV
