Finding Peace in God’s Unchanging Nature

The God Who Leads, Heals, Protects, and Provides.

As I have been reading through the book of Exodus, the character of God has become clearer. The same God who led Israel out of Egypt is still leading His people today. The same God who healed, protected, and provided for them in the wilderness is still faithful to do the same for you and me today.

The Bible says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. When everything feels uncertain, know that He is unchanging.

He is good on His Word.

Let’s get into it.

God Always Leads Forward

During the story of the crossing of the Red Sea, the Israelites became frightened when they saw the Egyptian army closing in on them. Though the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from them (Exodus 13:22), they still allowed fear to creep in. When Moses went to inquire of God on behalf of the people, the Lord responds:

“Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. (Exodus 14:15 ESV)

To me, God was ticked off, and rightfully so.

“Why are you coming to me with this when you have already been briefed on the situation and received your marching orders? I told you I was taking you to a land flowing with milk and honey. You watched me decimate the Egyptians in every way imaginable. I made a distinction between you and them and preserved you through it all. When you left Egypt, you did not go empty handed as I gave you favor in the eyes of your former taskmaster’s so that they would give you silver, gold, and clothing. And finally, as we travel on from Egypt toward the land that I promised, I never left you, once.”

I can see Him SHDH and pointing: “GO FORWARD!”

The Lord does not lead backward

He calls us out of bondage into freedom, out of fear into faith, and out of darkness into His marvelous light. When He led Israel out of Egypt, He guided them step by step with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night (Exodus 13:21–22 AMP). He did not leave them to figure things out on their own. In the same way, He is faithful to direct our steps forward when we trust Him. Even when the path feels unknown or frightening, God is already ahead of us preparing the way.

“The Lord is going before you; He will [be with you]; He will not fail you or abandon you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8 AMP)

God Is the Lord Who Heals You

When the Israelites came to Marah and found bitter water, the Lord showed Moses a tree to throw into the water, and it became sweet. At that time, the Lord made this following declaration:

“If you will diligently listen and pay attention to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and listen to His commandments, and keep [foremost in your thoughts and actively obey] all His precepts and statutes, then I will not put on you any of the diseases which I have put on the Egyptians; for I am the [a]Lord who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26 AMP)

God not only has the power to heal physical sickness, but also the brokenness of the heart and spirit. In a world where fear, stress, and despair seem to multiply daily, the Lord offers true healing and peace. He is Jehovah Rapha, our Healer, who restores what the world cannot fix.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [healing their pain and comforting their sorrow].” (Psalm 147:3 AMP)

God Protects You Even When the World Is Falling Apart

It is easy to be consumed by headlines, politics, wars, and global agendas. You can watch the news all day long and hear about “what they are doing,” but ultimately it does not matter because God is in control. His Word assures us that “no weapon that is formed against you will succeed” (Isaiah 54:17 AMP).

Even on a global government level, He is sovereign.

The Israelites watched as plagues shook Egypt, yet the Lord made a distinction between His people and those who opposed Him (Exodus 8:22–23 AMP). God is still a shield to those who trust in Him.

“The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you [setting you on a firm foundation] and will protect and guard you from the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3 AMP)

God Provides for His People

In the wilderness, God gave Israel manna, quail, and water from the rock (Exodus 16:11–15; Exodus 17:6 AMP). He even caused the Egyptians to hand over their silver, gold, and clothing before they left Egypt (Exodus 12:35–36 AMP). He has always been the God of more than enough. He is able to supply every need. Not just food and clothing, but peace, wisdom, and strength. When the world fears scarcity, the believer can rest in the truth that God owns it all.

“And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 AMP)

Renewing Your Mind in Troubled Times

If you are constantly filling your mind with bad news, it will rob you of your peace and drain your joy. Scripture reminds us that “a heart full of joy is good medicine, but depression and brokenness dry the bones” (Proverbs 17:22 AMP).

Joy and peace come not from the world, but from the presence of God. Jesus Himself said, “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 AMP).

The joy of the Lord truly is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10 AMP). That joy is renewed daily when we turn our eyes off the crashing waves of the world and fix them on Jesus, the One who came to give you life, and give it to you in abundance.

A Call to Salvation

Perhaps as you read this, you realize you do not yet know this God who leads, heals, protects, and provides, or maybe you once did but the cares of this world has choked out your fire.

The good news is that through Jesus Christ, you can have peace with God today. A peace that surpasses all understanding.

The Bible says, “If you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9 AMP)

Here is a simple prayer you can pray:

“Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God who died for my sins and rose again. I ask You to forgive me, cleanse me, and make me new. I receive You as my Savior and Lord. Fill me with Your Spirit and lead me in Your ways. Thank You for giving me eternal life. Amen.”

If you prayed this prayer today, congratulations and welcome to the family of God!
